SisterSister

In the Krueger family, everyone calls everyone sister.  I've even called my own mother sister at various points in my 23 years. I'm not sure where or why this started, but it's just this thing that we do.   For those of you who arent familiar with the term, I'll quote Webster,
sister:  noun \ˈsis-tər\
1. : a female who has one or both parents in common with another.
In reality, I do have a sister, according this definition. She shares the same father I do, and that is about the sum of her sisterly nature.  In the Krueger-Marwitz clan, sisterhood is a big thing, and I mean BIG. For as long as I can remember, I have longed for the relationship that I have seen among the fabulous women of my family.

Long about a year ago, while having a routine conversation with myself, I skidded in my tracks--Wait! I exclaimed to myself, you're a fool! All these years I have been wanting a sister, the kind you lay in bed with, and talk about boys with, and cry to when  your mom yells at you for crazy things, all the while stumbling along with out realizing that in fact, I do hae a person that I do all of these things with. Enter Devyn......

This girl, man what to say?? She's probably the coolest thing I know. Thus begins my ode to Devyn, my sister from another mister, the half to my whole.  Luckily, my mother and her two sisters raised all of us as siblings rather than cousins, so no matter where I go, I know that there are four people who have my back.  But as things go, I am closest to that little creature shown above.  If you don't know this little wunderkind, let me enlighten you.  She's just like me, only better.  Shes's prettier, smarter, and sometimes funnier.  She's probably the coolest thing I know. This litte firecracker makes my day, every day.  So, to end this little introduction to me, if you don't know Devyn, meet her, it will change your life.

  1. I love your blog. You even inspired me to update my blog. I say sister all the time. And you are right that you are very fortunate that your cousins are more like siblings to you. That is they way Lisa's kids and my kids are. Of course, I feel like Rylee and Bryce are my own. Can't wait to see what the future blogs will be.
